Hua Hin
South East Asia
Hua Hin, Thailand’s original beach resort, has evolved into one of Asia’s premier golf destinations, offering a diverse array of courses that cater to players of all skill levels. With its tropical climate, coastal scenery, and a blend of historic and modern layouts, Hua Hin provides a unique golfing experience.
At the forefront is Black Mountain Golf Club, consistently ranked among Asia’s best. Nestled in a valley surrounded by black granite mountains, this 27-hole championship course is renowned for its challenging design, pristine conditions, and world-class facilities. It has hosted numerous international tournaments, including the Thailand Classic.
Another standout is Pineapple Valley Golf Club (formerly Banyan Golf Club), set amidst a former pineapple plantation. This course offers panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand and features a strategic layout with undulating fairways and well-placed bunkers, providing both challenge and beauty.
For those seeking variety, Springfield Royal Country Club offers 27 holes designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course combines traditional Nicklaus features—such as expansive bunkers and water hazards—with a lush, tropical setting. The additional nine holes, designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, add further diversity to the playing experience.
Sea Pines Golf Course, located along the coastline, provides a links-style experience with six holes adjacent to the beach. The sea breeze adds an extra layer of challenge, especially on the final three holes, which are considered among the most scenic in Hua Hin.
History enthusiasts might appreciate the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course, Thailand’s first 18-hole course, established in 1924. While it may not match the modern standards of newer courses, its colonial charm and central location near the Hua Hin railway station make it a nostalgic choice.
Other notable courses include Palm Hills Golf Club, known for its wide fairways and scenic views; Majestic Creek Country Club, offering a challenging layout with natural streams; and Imperial Lake View Resort & Golf Club, featuring four distinct nine-hole courses, including a desert-style layout.
Beyond the fairways, Hua Hin offers a rich cultural experience, from bustling night markets and historic temples to pristine beaches and luxury resorts.
